Elementary School Teacher

York Country Day School (YCDS) seeks an experienced and innovative full-time second grade teacher for the 2015-2016 school year. The ideal candidate is passionate about teaching young children, knowledgeable of childhood cognitive developmental needs and appropriate practices, well versed in child centered learning, and capable of creating an enviroment that fosters a love of learning. The individual selected will be expected to motivate, assess, engage and develop student learning while managing the routine daily activities for second grade students.

The YCDS faculty is innovative and collaborative and we seek candidates to complement the strengths of our program and to add his or her own expertise and background to provide additional breadth to the core curriculum. The candidate should also be committed to issues of diversity, leadership, inclusion, and equity.

Strong candidates possess:

  • Bachelor or Master's degree with a major in elementary education
  • Minimum of three years teaching experience preferred
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to professional growth and personal development
  • Experience with differentiated instruction and appreciation for each child as an individual with diverse needs
  • Experience integrating technology and applying 21st century learning within the classroom
  • Knowledge of and experience with STEAM/STEM learning experiences for students

Part-Time Teacher Aide for ages 2 1/2-4 years

York Country Day School (YCDS) is seeking a part-time Teacher Aide to join our well-established Primary team. The Teacher Aide maintains and contributes to an exceptional learning environment for students' age 2 1/2 through 4 years. Duties include preparing and maintaining the classroom environment, creating materials, giving individual and small group lessons as directed by the Lead Teacher, helping with classroom management, supervising playground, attending to the logistical aspects of the classroom, and assisting the Lead Teacher in student observation. In addition, the Teacher Aide participates fully in the life of the school, including collaborating with the team in a mission-driven environment.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree and experience working with children. An ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and excellent communication and organization skills. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to be challenged and to grow professionally.

The position begins August 25, 2015, and ends at the close of teh 2015-2016 school year. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am-1 pm, during the academic sessions only. After School Assistant- Grades 1-5

Part-time After School Assistant for Lower School available beginning August 25, 2015, and ending at the close of the school year. Hours are Monday through Friday from 2:30 pm-5:00 pm, during academic sessions only. Hourly rate based on experience. Responsibilities include assisting program director with after school care for students in grades 1 through 5. Patience, reliability, flexibility, enthusiasm and experience working with elementary-age children are a must. High School diploma and experience working with elementary-age children required.
