Middle School

York Country Day Middle School students are engaged, motivated, excited about learning and contribute to the community.  It is a warm, caring environment where academic excellence is the goal for every student.

The project-rich curriculum encourages creativity and active learning across the curriculum.  Students often present information and research to their classmates.  History students transform themselves into historical figures from ancient Greece, study them and then answer questions in character.  Math students calculate the perimeter, angles and area of a building and create a scale model based on their measurements.  All students take art, music, drama and chorus.  There is a Middle School instrument ensemble and every spring the Middle School presents a musical.  The most recent have been Mulan and Aladdin.  Middle Schoolers play on sports teams in soccer (fall and spring), field hockey, and basketball.  The Middle School has a Student Council, literary magazine and other co-curricular activities to engage students in all aspects of school life.
