PROGRAM DIRECTOR FOR ENGINEERING AND ROBOTICS

York Country Day School seeks a candidate who is an independent yet highly collaborative creative thinker, comfortable with 21st century technology and committed to a multidisciplinary approach to teaching. This candidate will have the opportunity to build both engineering and robotics programming and work in our state-of-the-art laboratory space. The candidate will continue to vision and add to our strategic plan for this program, design curriculum, instruct students, and provide professional development for faculty Pre-Kindergarten-12, as related to the Engineering and Robotics program. The Program Director reports to the Head of School and works closely with the administrative team (especially division heads) and coordinates instruction and curriculum with PreK-5 Engineering and Robotics faculty.

Candidates for this position should be proven classroom teachers who are deeply knowledgeable about current and future trends in Pre-Kindergarten-12 education, including STEAM initiatives, and passionate about working with students and faculty across these grade levels. Candidates should have experience working with the FIRST Robotics program and possess strong communication skills. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated his/her ability to establish and maintain a rigorous academic program. Bachelor’s degree in a related field required, Master’s degree preferred.

HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER (PART TIME)

Country Day School seeks a dynamic and dedicated health and physical education teacher. The selected candidate will join the faculty part-time for the 2017-2018 school year.

Founded in 1953, York Country Day School is a progressive, independent, college preparatory school in York, PA serving students in pre-K through twelfth grade. York Country Day School inspires and nurtures the innovative and creative spirit of students as they pursue their intellectual promise, as well as social and civic passions. Students at York Country Day School are known and valued as integral members of an engaging community.

Beginning August 2017, the Health and Physical Education teacher will collaboratively instruct health and physical education courses for middle and upper school students. The teacher will be equally comfortable in the classroom and gym setting. The teacher may be called upon to advise students or sponsor a club, as well. All teachers are expected to be involved in the life of the school and participate in school events.

The ideal candidate should possess an undergraduate degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Health, and/or related field. Previous teaching or coaching in an independent school setting is desired. Interested candidates should have expertise in an active, 21st century learning environment. The ideal candidate will be an excellent role model and engaging teacher for students in grades 6-12.

GIRLS VARSITY BASKETBALL COACH

The Head Girls Basketball Coach at York Country Day School is responsible for planning and directing the conditioning, training, and performance of our student athletes, for our basketball program.

This position reports to the Director of Athletics. This head coaching position and all of the duties of the position must be conducted in adherence with the policies, rules, and regulations of York Country Day School and the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA). This position directs a staff of Assistant Coaches leading the team and its performance. The head coach, with Director of Athletics, is responsible for overseeing the entire girls basketball program, including Junior Varsity

and middle school programs.

The following list provides examples of the most typical duties for our Head Basketball Girls Coach at York Country Day School.

  • Direct Assistant Coaches in the overall planning and execution of the basketball program.
  • Monitor and maintain the discipline and conduct of student athletes to support the image and reputation of the athletics program.
  • Plan coaching and practice sessions.
  • Coach team members individually and in groups, and demonstrate game techniques.
  • Develop and implement game strategy and position assignments.
  • Oversee the strength and conditioning programs for student athletes.
  • Ensure adherence to all PIAA and York Country Day School rules and regulations/policies.
  • Be a mentor, both in basketball and life.
  • Build positive relationships with all members of the York Country Day School community, including students, faculty, administration, parents and alumni.
  • Build a program that’s goal is to give our students an experience that they will take with them for the rest of their lives.

Experienced AAU and High School varsity basketball coach preferred but not required.
