Summer Counselor positions available at York Country Day School June 10, 2018- August 18, 2018. It will be a flexible work schedule of no more than 29 hours per week between the hours of 7:00am and 5:30pm Monday through Friday, with an hourly rate of $10. Responsibilities include assisting program director with summer care and instruction for students in grades K through 6. Patience, reliability, flexibility, enthusiasm and experience working with elementary-age children are a must. High School diploma and experience working with elementary-age children is required.

ONE YEAR POSITION FOR PART-TIME LEAD TEACHER FOR AGES 2 1/2-4 YEARS

Candidates are expected to have depth, breadth, and understanding of the developmental needs of 2 1/2 to 4-year-olds and demonstrate a passion for working with children. Candidates should have a minimum of five years of teaching experience and a master’s degree is preferred.

The person hired for this position will be expected to:

  • Plan and implement activities in the YCDS curriculum that nurture and develop the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social skills of young children
  • Observe children to assess their developmental level, interests, and needs and use this information to facilitate learning and growth
  • Exhibit kindness, respect, and compassion in all interactions with children, parents, and colleagues
  • Communicate knowledgeably and effectively with parents and colleagues about students and curriculum
  • Supervise the Before School Program for PK-grade 5 students from 7-7:45 a.m.

Requirements:

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Education and at least five years of teaching experience. An ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and excellent communication and organizational skills. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to be challenged and grow professionally.

The position begins mid-August and ends at the close of the 2019-2020 school year. Hours are Monday through Friday from 7 am – 12:30 pm.

FULL-TIME MIDDLE AND UPPER SCHOOL SCIENCE TEACHER

Beginning August 2019, the Science teacher will instruct Middle School Science and the potential of other Upper School science courses as needed. The teacher will advise students and may sponsor a club. All faculty are expected to be involved in the life of the school and participate in school events.

The ideal candidate should possess an undergraduate degree in Science Education, Biology, or a related field and possess an inquiry-minded, lab-based teaching style. GIRLS VARSITY TENNIS COACH

The Girls Varsity Tennis Coach at York Country Day School is responsible for the planning and directing the conditioning, training, and performance of our student athletes, for our girls tennis program. This position reports to the Director of Athletics. This coaching position and all of the duties of the position must be conducted in adherence with the policies, rules, and regulations of York Country Day School and the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA).

The following list provides examples of the most typical duties for our Girls Tennis Coach at York Country Day School:

  • Assisting with monitoring and maintain the discipline and conduct of student athletes to support the image and reputation of the athletics program.
  • Plan and coaching practice sessions. Arrive before the girls to practice and all bus trips.
  • Coach team members individually and in groups, and demonstrate match techniques.
  • Assist in developing and implement match strategy and assignments.
  • Assist in the strength and conditioning programs for student athletes.
  • Ensure adherence to all PIAA and York Country Day School rules and regulations/policies.
  • Be a mentor, both in tennis and life.
  • Build positive relationships with all members of the York Country Day School community, including students, faculty, administration, parents and alumni.
  • Build a program that's goal is to give our students an experience that they will take with them for the rest of their lives.

Experienced Varsity tennis coach preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities include:

The Director of Music will be responsible for leading all Music programs and will participate in the school’s administrative leadership team. This individual will coordinate associated faculty, curriculum, and events as well as promote the Music department as it fits into the school mission.

The following are specific teaching and coordinating responsibilities associated with this position:

  • Prepare Lower, Middle, and Upper School instrumental ensembles for several performances each year.
  • Teach beginning instrumental lessons.

  • Serve as advisor to small group of students.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years classroom teaching experience within a school.
  • Proven communication and leadership skills.
  • Basic piano skills; advanced ability preferred.
  • Ability to adapt musical arrangements to fit instrumentation.
