DIRECTOR FOR ENGINEERING AND ROBOTICS

York Country Day School seeks a candidate who is an independent yet highly collaborative creative thinker, comfortable with 21st century technology and committed to a multidisciplinary approach to teaching. This candidate will have the opportunity to build both engineering and robotics programming and work in our state-of-the-art laboratory space. The candidate will continue to vision and add to our strategic plan for this program, design curriculum, instruct students, and provide professional development for faculty Pre-Kindergarten-12, as related to the Engineering and Robotics program. The Program Director works closely with the administrative team (especially division heads) and coordinates instruction and curriculum with Engineering and Robotics faculty.

Candidates for this position should be proven classroom teachers who are deeply knowledgeable about current and future trends in Pre-Kindergarten-12 education, including STEAM initiatives, and passionate about working with students and faculty across these grade levels. Candidates should have experience working with the FIRST Robotics program and possess strong communication skills. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated his/her ability to establish and maintain a rigorous academic program. Bachelor’s degree in a related field required, Master’s degree preferred.

PHYSICS TEACHER (FULL-TIME)

York Country Day School seeks a dynamic and dedicated Full-Time Physics teacher to join the faculty for the 2019-2020 school year.

Founded in 1953, York Country Day School is a progressive, independent, college preparatory school in York, PA serving students in pre-K through twelfth grade. DIRECTOR OF MUSIC

York Country Day School, an independent college preparatory school in York, Pennsylvania, is seeking a Director of Music to begin in July 1, 2019. The ideal candidate is a positive, energetic, student-centered educator with experience working with students of all levels of accomplishment.

Responsibilities include:

The Director of Music will be responsible for leading all Music programs and will participate in the school’s administrative leadership team. This individual will coordinate associated faculty, curriculum, and events as well as promote the Music department as it fits into the school mission.

The following are specific teaching and coordinating responsibilities associated with this position:

  • Prepare Lower, Middle, and Upper School instrumental ensembles for several performances each year.
  • Teach beginning instrumental lessons.
  • Teach Middle School classroom music in electives rotation.
  • Offer and teach various Upper School music electives.
  • Prepare Middle and Upper school choruses for multiple performances each year.
  • Serve as advisor to small group of students.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Music or Music Education, Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years classroom teaching experience within a school.
  • Proven communication and leadership skills.
  • Basic piano skills; advanced ability preferred.
  • Ability to adapt musical arrangements to fit instrumentation.

HISTORY AND ENGLISH TEACHER (FULL-TIME)

York Country Day School seeks a dynamic and dedicated History and English teacher to join the faculty for the 2019-2020 school year.

Beginning August 2019, the teacher will teach both History and English courses to students in grades 6-12. The ideal candidate will connect well with students in each age group. Interested candidates should have expertise in 21st century learning within the classroom and knowledge with STEAM learning experiences for students. The teacher will be called upon to advise students and sponsor a club, as well. All teachers are expected to be involved in the life of the school and participate in school events.

The ideal candidate will be able to teach Middle and Upper School historical skills, literature, language, and writing effectively. In addition, the candidate should be able to foster critical thinking skills, engage students in classroom discussions, and promote active, student-centered learning. The ideal candidate should possess at minimum an undergraduate degree in History and/or English education or a related field. Candidates should have teaching experience and be an excellent communicator and collaborator. Previous teaching in an independent school setting is desired.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHER

York Country Day School is seeking substitute teachers for Preschool through Grade 12. Substitute teachers are expected to implement the daily instructional plans of the classroom teacher, maintain a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, and establish rapport with students while maintaining proper classroom management.
