On Friday, May 29, we celebrated the groundbreaking of York Country Day School's 21st Century STEAM Center and the Ann B. Barshinger Center for the Arts. The groundbreaking ceremony was a festive celebration and tribute to the tremendous new vision and plan for the future of YCDS. The expansion of the YCDS campus and the program will transform the educational experience for all students as it will bridge the best of YCDS's rich history with the best of future learning. Our robust and rigorous curriculum will include, robotics, engineering, video production, digital arts, and sound design, each important tenets in 21st century learning. This culture of curiosity, paired with social and civic engagement, will prepare students for the modern world.
The ceremony included a welcome by York College President, Dr. Pamela Gunter-Smith, as well as remarks by Head of School, Dr. Christine Heine, Mr. Rob Kinsley, President of LSC Design, Mr. Jan Wagner of Kinsley Construction, Mr. Bill Shipley, Vice Chairman of the York College of Pennsylvania Board of Trustees and Co-Chair of the YCDS Capital Campaign, and Mr. Joe Crosswhite, York College of Pennsylvania Trustee and Co-Chair of the YCDS Capital Campaign. In celebration, trustees, administration, faculty, students, and stewards of the project, all participated in the ceremonial groundbreaking.
