  • Head Coach - FTC Robotics Team

    York Country Day School seeks a candidate who is highly motivated and effective in guiding upper school students through the FIRST Technical Challenge (FTC) competitive robotics program. This candidate will have the opportunity to develop the team's technical and non-technical skills and expand the team's outreach to the community. The FTC Head coach will recruit and collaborate other team mentors and work closely with the Director of Robotics and Engineering throughout the season and off-season. YCDS is an affiliate of York College of Pennsylvania and is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and by the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools.
     
    Candidates for this position should be champions for robotics education, and they should be passionate about mentoring students in the upper grades, 9-12. The candidate should possess a Bachelor's Degree in a robotics related field. The candidate should also possess strong communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to connect the team to resources and experts in the field is a necessity. Experience with the FIRST Robotics program and/or in the fields of engineering and/or computer science is desired. Candidates must pass the FIRST background check in addition to the other required state and federal clearances.

  • Lead Teacher for Ages 2 1/2 - 4 Years (Full-Time)

    York Country Day School is seeking a full-time Lead Teacher to join our well-established primary team. Candidates must have an excellent understanding of the developmental needs of 2 1/2 to 4 year olds and demonstrate a passion for working with this age level. Candidates should have a minimum of two years teaching experience and a master's degree is preferred.  

    The person hired for this position will be expected to:
    • Plan and implement activities that nurture and develop the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social skills of young children

Candidates must have the capacity to deliver instruction both in-person and on a remote learning platform as needed.  Previous teaching in an independent school setting is desired.

    York Country Day School, an independent college preparatory school in York, Pennsylvania, is seeking a Part-Time Lower School Music Teacher for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. The ideal candidate will have a thorough background in vocal and instrumental music and is passionate about teaching young children, has strong instructional and classroom-management skills, experience collaborating closely with colleagues and parents, and capable of creating an environment that fosters a love of learning. The Lower School Music Teacher will be responsible for teaching students ages 3 to 11 years old. The YCDS music program approaches learning music through joyful, engaging, hands-on participation in creating and performing both vocal and instrumental music.

    The following are specific teaching and coordinating responsibilities associated with this position:
    • Teach Preschool (3-year olds) through grade five general music classes (with a possibility for teaching some Middle School classes, depending on experience and interest).
    • Develop curricula and implement lessons that incorporate a range of learning approaches and differentiation opportunities to excite and engage students, paying particular attention to the importance of multicultural approaches.
    • Create a student-centered classroom environment with a positive approach to discipline.
    • Prepare students and coordinating various performances/assemblies/shows throughout the year.
    • Collaborate with classroom and specialist teachers in order to continually search for innovative ways to educate the whole child.
    • Keep anecdotal and assessment records to inform thoughtful, comprehensive reports and ongoing parent communication.
    Requirements:
    • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Music in Music, Music Education or Performance.
    • A Master's degree or another advanced degree is preferable.
    • Have at least five years experience teaching general and vocal music to elementary school children.

    York Country Day School is seeking a part-time Teacher Aide to join our well-established Primary team. The Teacher Aide maintains and contributes to an exceptional learning environment for students' age 2 1/2 through 5 years. Duties include preparing and maintaining the classroom environment, creating materials, giving individual and small group lessons as directed by the Lead Teacher, helping with classroom management, supervising playground, attending to the logistical aspects of the classroom, and assisting the Lead Teacher in student observation.   • Substitute Teacher

    York Country Day School is seeking substitute teachers for Preschool through Grade 12. Substitute teachers are expected to implement the daily instructional plans of the classroom teacher, maintain a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, and establish rapport with students while maintaining proper classroom management. Qualified applicants may have the opportunity to attend remote learning intensive professional development sessions in June 2020 to prepare for a possibility of remote teaching and learning for periods of time in the 2020-2021 academic year should this be mandated.
