  • Assistant Varsity Boys Basketball Coach

    The Assistant Boys Basketball Coach at York Country Day School is responsible for assisting the planning and directing the conditioning, training, and performance of our student athletes, for our boys basketball program. This position reports to the Head Coach and Director of Athletics. This assistant coaching position and all of the duties of the position must be conducted in adherence with the policies, rules, and regulations of York Country Day School and the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA).

      Requirements:

      Strong candidates possess:
      • Bachelor's degree with a major in physical education or equivalent; Master's degree preferred
      • Minimum of five years teaching experience preferred in preschool to grade 6
      • Ability to teach physical education skills such as gross motor development, spatial awareness, locomotor movements, and athletic movements (throwing, catching, kicking, striking an object, chasing, and fleeing)

    • Middle and Upper School Mathematics Teacher (Full-Time)

      York Country Day School seeks a dynamic and dedicated Math teacher to join the faculty for the 2022-2023 school year. The successful candidate will teach courses in for grades 6 and 9, focusing on Math 6 and Geometry.

      The ideal candidate will connect well with students in each age group. Interested applicants should have expertise in 21st century learning within the classroom and knowledge with meaningful learning experiences for students. The teacher will be called upon to advise students and sponsor a club as well. All teachers are expected to be involved in the life of the school and participate in school events.

      Requirements:

      The ideal candidate will be able to teach Middle School math skills, including computation, problem solving, algebraic thinking, geometric concepts, and numeracy. In addition, the candidate should be able to foster critical thinking skills, engage students in classroom discussions, and promote active, student-centered learning. The ideal candidate should possess at minimum an undergraduate degree in Math education or a related field.  Candidates should have teaching experience and be an excellent communicator and collaborator. Candidates must have the capacity to deliver instruction both in-person and on a remote learning platform as needed. Previous teaching in an independent school setting is desired.

        York Country Day School, an independent college preparatory school in York, Pennsylvania, is seeking a Part-Time Lower School Music Teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. The Lower School Music Teacher will be responsible for teaching students ages 3 to 11 years old.         • Teach Preschool (3-year olds) through grade five general music classes (with a possibility for teaching some Middle School classes, depending on experience and interest).
        • Develop curricula and implement lessons that incorporate a range of learning approaches and differentiation opportunities to excite and engage students, paying particular attention to the importance of multicultural approaches.
        • Create a student-centered classroom environment with a positive approach to discipline.
        • Prepare students and coordinating various performances/assemblies/shows throughout the year.
        • Collaborate with classroom and specialist teachers in order to continually search for innovative ways to educate the whole child.
        • Keep anecdotal and assessment records to inform thoughtful, comprehensive reports and ongoing parent communication.
        Requirements:
        • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Music in Music, Music Education or Performance.
        • A Master's degree or another advanced degree is preferable.
        • Have at least five years experience teaching general and vocal music to elementary school children.

        Summer Counselor positions available at York Country Day School June 6, 2022- August 12, 2022. It will be a flexible work schedule of no more than 29 hours per week between the hours of 7:00am and 5:30pm Monday through Friday, with an hourly rate of $12.
        Responsibilities include assisting program director with summer care and instruction for students in grades preschool through grade 6.

        • Substitute Teacher

          York Country Day School is seeking substitute teachers for Preschool through Grade 12. Substitute teachers are expected to implement the daily instructional plans of the classroom teacher, maintain a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, and establish rapport with students while maintaining proper classroom management. Qualified applicants may have the opportunity to attend remote learning intensive professional development sessions in June 2020 to prepare for a possibility of remote teaching and learning for periods of time in the 2020-2021 academic year should this be mandated.
