  • Part-Time After School Aide For Ages 4 - 10 Years

    York Country Day School is seeking a part-time After School Assistant for Lower School available at York Country Day School beginning immediately and ending at the close of the 2020-2021 school year.

    Hours are Monday through Friday from 2:45 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., during academic sessions only. Hourly rate based on experience. Responsibilities include assisting the program director with after-school care for students in grades 1 through 5.  
     
    Minimum qualifications include experience working with children, a Bachelor's Degree is preferred. An ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and excellent communication and organizational skills. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to be challenged and to grow professionally.

  • Part-Time Digital Media Teacher

    Beginning August 2020, the Part-Time Digital Media teacher will teach courses to students in each division - Lower, Middle and Upper School, with an emphasis on the early grades. The ideal candidate will connect well with students in each age group. Interested candidates should have expertise in a variety of visual arts and digital media, graphic design, and animation. Knowledge of current software and hardware for digital media is also required.

    The ideal candidate should possess, at minimum, a bachelor's degree in Digital Art or related field of study, have at least 3 years of teaching experience, and be an excellent communicator and collaborator. Experience applying 21st century learning within the classroom and knowledge of and experience with STEAM/STEM learning experiences for students is also required. Experience with distance learning and Google classroom is a plus.

  • Part-Time Lower School Librarian/Math Specialist

    York Country Day School seeks an experienced and innovative part-time Lower School librarian/math specialist for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. The ideal candidate is passionate about teaching young children, knowledgeable of childhood cognitive developmental needs and appropriate practices, well-versed in child-centered learning, and capable of creating an environment that fosters a love of learning. The librarian guides students in the Lower School as they become skilled and effective library users, developing lifelong habits of reading, inquiry, curiosity, and creativity. The math specialist leads students in the area of mathematics and works with students and faculty to provide differentiation for those students with advanced mathematical abilities.

    The YCDS faculty is innovative and collaborative and we seek candidates to complement the strengths of our program and to add his or her own expertise and background to provide additional breadth to the core curriculum.
     
    A strong candidate should possess:
    • A Bachelor's degree with a major in elementary education.
    • A Master's degree with a major in elementary education is preferred.
    • Experience teaching mathematics.
    • Minimum of five years teaching experience preferred in elementary grades.

    York Country Day School, an independent college preparatory school in York, Pennsylvania, is seeking a Part-Time Lower School Music Teacher for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. The ideal candidate will have a thorough background in vocal and instrumental music and is passionate about teaching young children, has strong instructional and classroom-management skills, experience collaborating closely with colleagues and parents, and capable of creating an environment that fosters a love of learning. YCDS seeks a positive, energetic, student-centered educator with experience working with students of all levels of accomplishment.

    The YCDS faculty is innovative and collaborative and we seek candidates to complement the strengths of our program and to add their own expertise and background to provide additional breadth to the core curriculum. The Lower School Music Teacher will be responsible for teaching students ages 3 to 11 years old. The YCDS music program approaches learning music through joyful, engaging, hands-on participation in creating and performing both vocal and instrumental music.

    The following are specific teaching and coordinating responsibilities associated with this position:
    • Teach Preschool (3-year olds) through grade five general music classes (with a possibility for teaching some Middle School classes, depending on experience and interest).
    • Develop curricula and implement lessons that incorporate a range of learning approaches and differentiation opportunities to excite and engage students, paying particular attention to the importance of multicultural approaches.
    • Create a student-centered classroom environment with a positive approach to discipline.
    • Prepare students and coordinating various performances/assemblies/shows throughout the year.
    • Collaborate with classroom and specialist teachers in order to continually search for innovative ways to educate the whole child.
    • Keep anecdotal and assessment records to inform thoughtful, comprehensive reports and ongoing parent communication.
    Requirements:
    • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Music in Music, Music Education or Performance.
    • A Master's degree or another advanced degree is preferable.
    • Have at least five years experience teaching general and vocal music to elementary school children.
    • Experience with distance learning, Google Classroom, and Seesaw.
    • Experience integrating technology and applying 21st-century learning within the classroom.

  • Part-Time Teacher Aide For Ages 4 - 6 Years

    York Country Day School is seeking a part-time Teacher Aide to join our well-established Primary team. The Teacher Aide maintains and contributes to an exceptional learning environment for students' age 4 through 6 years. Duties include preparing and maintaining the classroom environment, creating materials, giving individual and small group lessons as directed by the Lead Teacher, helping with classroom management, supervising playground, attending to the logistical aspects of the classroom, assisting the Lead Teacher in student observation and assisting with students in the After School Care Program. In addition, the Teacher Aide participates fully in the life of the school, including collaborating with the team in a mission-driven environment.
     
    Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree and experience working with children. An ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and excellent communication and organizational skills.   • Substitute Teacher

    York Country Day School is seeking substitute teachers for Preschool through Grade 12. Substitute teachers are expected to implement the daily instructional plans of the classroom teacher, maintain a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, and establish rapport with students while maintaining proper classroom management. Qualified applicants may have the opportunity to attend remote learning intensive professional development sessions in June 2020 to prepare for a possibility of remote teaching and learning for periods of time in the 2020-2021 academic year should this be mandated.

    Bachelor's degree required and previous experience in a similar school setting preferred. Must be energetic, collaborative, and well organized.
