  • Coordinator Of Mental Health and Wellness (Part-Time)

    York Country Day School seeks a dynamic, experienced, and dedicated school counselor to serve part-time as the Coordinator of Mental Health & Wellness in the Middle & Upper School divisions. The selected candidate will join the administration part-time beginning January 3, 2022.

    Beginning January 3, 2022 the Coordinator of Mental Health & Wellness will:
    • Provide counseling support to ensure healthy student relationships, social-emotional health, student safety, and student academic success.
    • Provide consultation and support for students struggling with academic success and executive functioning skills (knowledge of diverse learning profiles and neuropsychological testing).
    • Provide crisis intervention to families and students, as needed.
    • Coordinate, facilitate, and support class advisors with weekly class meeting programming for underclassmen.
    • Oversee and coordinate student accommodations, including serving as a liaison between the intermediate unit, parents, and the school administration as well as record-keeping, review, and oversight of individual student learning plans.
    • Advocacy and support of all students through initiatives fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
    • Collaborate with parents, faculty, administrators and outside professionals to address student and family needs.
    • The school counselor will also provide consultation to faculty and staff regarding psychosocial issues affecting students and general adolescent development.
    Requirements:

    The ideal candidate should possess:
    • Master's Degree in counseling, social work, or equivalent required; LCSW-C credential is desired
    • Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to follow up on student cases
    • Ability to organize and develop programming in support of students and parents
    • Ability to articulate and tactfully handle inquiries from students, parents, faculty, and staff
    • Experience working with students grades 6-12 required; experience in an independent school setting, is desired.

    • Middle School Soccer Coach

      This position is effective starting Monday, August 23, 2021, for the fall interscholastic athletic season. The Middle School Soccer Head Coach at York Country Day School (YCDS) is responsible for leading the training and competition of our student-athletes participating in our MS Soccer program. The interscholastic season for Middle School Soccer is the fall season. There is an additional intramural season for MS soccer in the spring, which would be paid an additional stipend to coach.
      This position reports to the YCDS Director of Athletics. This coaching position and all of the duties of the position must be conducted in adherence with the policies, rules, and regulations of YCDS and the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA). 

      The following list provides examples of the most typical duties for the Middle School Soccer Head Coach at YCDS.
      • Aid in the discipline of student-athletes to support the image and reputation of the school and community.
      • Plan and implement detailed practice sessions focused on developing technical skills and team cohesion.
      • Instruct athletes individually and in groups while demonstrating technical skills at practice.
      • Create and implement game strategy and lineups, considering playing time to be fair at the Middle School level.
      • Develop athletes to build the YCDS soccer program and prepare them for the Varsity level of competition in the Upper School.
      • Ensure adherence to all PIAA and YCDS rules and regulations/policies.
      • Communicate with the Athletic Director and Athletic Trainer about injuries, eligibility, and other items.
      • Be a mentor and role model to young student-athletes.
      • Build positive relationships with members of the YCDS community, including students, faculty, administration, parents, and alumni.
      • Act with integrity, fairness, trust, and respect in all decisions that represent the school and team.
      • Build a program with a goal to give our student-athletes a memorable experience.
      Requirements:
      • Experience coaching soccer or high-level playing experience preferred (club, high school, college, or professional).

    • Part-Time Afternoon Teacher Aide for Ages 2 1/2 - 5 years

      York Country Day School is seeking a part-time Teacher Aide to join our well-established Primary team. The Teacher Aide maintains and contributes to an exceptional learning environment for students' age 2 1/2 through 5 years. Duties include preparing and maintaining the classroom environment, creating materials, giving individual and small group lessons as directed by the Lead Teacher, helping with classroom management, supervising playground, attending to the logistical aspects of the classroom, and assisting the Lead Teacher in student observation. In addition, the Teacher Aide participates fully in the life of the school, including collaborating with the team in a mission-driven environment.

      Requirements:

      Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree and experience working with children.  An ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and excellent communication and organizational skills. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to be challenged and to grow professionally.

      The position begins on January 3, 2022, and ends at the close of the 2021-2022 school year.  Hours are Monday through Friday 12 pm - 3:15 pm, during academic sessions only.  Hourly rate based upon experience.

    • Part-Time Lower School Music Teacher

      York Country Day School, an independent college preparatory school in York, Pennsylvania, is seeking a Part-Time Lower School Music Teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. The ideal candidate will have a thorough background in vocal and instrumental music and is passionate about teaching young children, has strong instructional and classroom-management skills, experience collaborating closely with colleagues and parents, and capable of creating an environment that fosters a love of learning. YCDS seeks a positive, energetic, student-centered educator with experience working with students of all levels of accomplishment.

      The YCDS faculty is innovative and collaborative and we seek candidates to complement the strengths of our program and to add their own expertise and background to provide additional breadth to the core curriculum. The Lower School Music Teacher will be responsible for teaching students ages 3 to 11 years old. The YCDS music program approaches learning music through joyful, engaging, hands-on participation in creating and performing both vocal and instrumental music.

      The following are specific teaching and coordinating responsibilities associated with this position:
      • Teach Preschool (3-year olds) through grade five general music classes (with a possibility for teaching some Middle School classes, depending on experience and interest).
      • Develop curricula and implement lessons that incorporate a range of learning approaches and differentiation opportunities to excite and engage students, paying particular attention to the importance of multicultural approaches.
      • Create a student-centered classroom environment with a positive approach to discipline.
      • Prepare students and coordinating various performances/assemblies/shows throughout the year.
      • Collaborate with classroom and specialist teachers in order to continually search for innovative ways to educate the whole child.
      • Keep anecdotal and assessment records to inform thoughtful, comprehensive reports and ongoing parent communication.
      Requirements:
      • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Music in Music, Music Education or Performance.
      • A Master's degree or another advanced degree is preferable.
      • Have at least five years experience teaching general and vocal music to elementary school children.
      • Experience with distance learning, Google Classroom, and Seesaw.
      • Experience integrating technology and applying 21st-century learning within the classroom.

    • Substitute Teacher

      York Country Day School is seeking substitute teachers for Preschool through Grade 12. Substitute teachers are expected to implement the daily instructional plans of the classroom teacher, maintain a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, and establish rapport with students while maintaining proper classroom management. Qualified applicants may have the opportunity to attend remote learning intensive professional development sessions in June 2020 to prepare for a possibility of remote teaching and learning for periods of time in the 2020-2021 academic year should this be mandated.
