    York Country Day School seeks a dynamic and dedicated Director of Summer and Enrichment Programs for the 2022-2023 school year. The successful candidate will develop and supervise the summer and year-round programs that provide exploratory learning and academic enrichment courses and activities. S/he will seek to increase the school's visibility with prospective full-time students, peer institutions, and other organizations in the wider community.
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
    The director of summer and enrichment programs will:
    • Develop, market, schedule, and oversee the entire summer school/camp operation, including academic, extra-curricular, athletic, and off-campus activities.
    • Devise and manage the registration process for prospective students.
    • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise a cadre of competent and properly trained teachers and staff members to organize and facilitate the summer program, ensuring that all instructors perform their duties with the highest level of professionalism.
    • Create and monitor all safety and health programs for the summer school.
    • Schedule regular meetings of summer program staff and instructors to evaluate, develop, and implement instruction that reflects the vision of the school and meets optimal standards of safety.
    • Provide faculty and staff performance evaluations and feedback.
    • Monitor student progress and establish standards of student behavior to provide a productive environment and to ensure the optimal condition and safety of all equipment and facilities.
    • Handle disciplinary issues.
    • Arrange for thoughtful communications with and events for the parents of the summer students.
    • Create, maintain, and communicate all records, as required by the school, other schools, consultants, and professional associations.
    • Partner with the director of admissions to identify and recruit qualified students for the full-year program.
    • Work with the Head of School to develop a budget and ensure the program's profitability.
    • Collaborate with the director of communications to create print and online marketing materials for the summer program, produce the catalog of summer program offerings, and generate enthusiasm for and promote the program's success.
    • Coordinate with the director of facilities and the director of information technology to arrange for summer program facility and/or equipment needs.
    • Represent and serve as the official spokesperson of the summer program at local events, fairs, and festivals.
    • Prepare appropriate summary reports for the school, the trustees, and the public.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities.
    • Assume responsibility for other projects as assigned by the head of school.

    Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree, Master's degree preferred
    • At least 2 years of teaching and/or administrative experience in a school or youth-serving organization
    • Supervisory experience
    • Successful track record working with a wide range of people
    • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with a professional and empathetic approach
    • Exceptional entrepreneurial and organizational skills
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Detail-oriented and able to work collaboratively
    • Computer literacy

  • Part-Time After School Aide for Ages 2 1/2 - 10 years

    York Country Day School is seeking a part-time After School Assistant for Lower School available at York Country Day School beginning immediately and ending at the close of the 2021-2022 school year.

    Hours are Monday through Friday from 2:45 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., during academic sessions only. Hourly rate based on experience. Responsibilities include assisting the program director with after-school care for students preschool through grade 5.  
     
    Requirements:
    Minimum qualifications include experience working with children and a Bachelor's Degree is preferred. An ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and excellent communication and organizational skills. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to be challenged and to grow professionally.

  • Part-Time Teacher Aide for Ages 2 1/2 - 5 years

    York Country Day School is seeking a part-time Teacher Aide to join our well-established Primary team. The Teacher Aide maintains and contributes to an exceptional learning environment for students aged 2 1/2 through 5 years. Duties include preparing and maintaining the classroom environment, creating materials, giving individual and small group lessons as directed by the Lead Teacher, helping with classroom management, supervising the playground, attending to the logistical aspects of the classroom, and assisting the Lead Teacher
    in student observation. In addition, the Teacher Aide participates fully in the life of the school, including collaborating with the team in a mission-driven environment.
     
    Requirements:
    Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree and experience working with children.  An ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and excellent communication and organizational skills. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to be challenged and to grow professionally.

    The position begins on August 24, 2022, and ends at the close of the 2022-2023 school year. Several positions are available and the hours are Monday through Friday from 7am - 12 noon OR Monday through Friday from 12 pm - 3:15 pm, during academic sessions only. Hourly rate based upon experience.

  • Substitute School Nurse

    York Country Day School is seeking a Substitute School Nurse to be available on an as needed basis beginning June 6, 2022.

    As the school's primary medical caregiver, the nurse supports the health and wellness of all students in grades PA-12. The nurse must be collaborative and able to work well on a team. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, the nurse delivers health services for students in a timely manner, offers assessment and medical referral, educates the community on important health issues, identifies health problems and collaborates with parents, primary care physicians, the YCDS athletic trainers, and teachers to develop student healthcare plans, and ensures the safety and health of the community. YCDS is particularly interested in candidates with experience in school health, pediatrics, concussion management, triage, and community health.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Manages all health information and health care at school.
    • Communicates with parents/guardians in a timely manner regarding medical issues
    • Coordinates and supervises the in-school care of concussed students with their doctor, parents, division heads, school advisor, teachers and the YCDS athletic trainer.
    • Documents student visits, physician notes and any other information using Blackbaud, the school's computerized database.
    • Distributes over-the-counter and prescription medications as necessary.
    • Safe disposal of biomedical waste.
    • Administrating COVID tests as needed.

  • Substitute Teacher

    York Country Day School is seeking substitute teachers for Preschool through Grade 12. Substitute teachers are expected to implement the daily instructional plans of the classroom teacher, maintain a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, and establish rapport with students while maintaining proper classroom management. Qualified applicants may have the opportunity to attend remote learning intensive professional development sessions in June 2020 to prepare for a possibility of remote teaching and learning for periods of time in the 2020-2021 academic year should this be mandated.

    Bachelor's degree required and previous experience in a similar school setting preferred. Must be energetic, collaborative, and well organized.
