  • Assistant Middle School Basketball Coach

    The assistant middle school basketball coach at York Country Day School is responsible for assisting the planning and directing the conditioning, training, and performance of our student athletes, for our boys and girls middle school basketball program. This is a part time/seasonal position. This position reports to the Head Coach and Director of Athletics. This assistant coaching position and all of the duties of the position must be conducted in adherence with the policies, rules, and regulations of York Country Day School and the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA). The following list provides examples of the most typical duties for our assistant basketball coach at York Country Day School.
     
    Requirements:
    • Assisting with monitoring and maintain the discipline and conduct of student athletes to support the image and reputation of the athletics program.
    • Assist in planning and coaching practice sessions.
    • Coach team members individually and in groups, and demonstrate game techniques.
    • Assist in developing and implementing game strategy and position assignments.
    • Assist in the strength and conditioning programs for student athletes.
    • Ensure adherence to all PIAA and York Country Day School rules and regulations/policies.
    • Be a mentor, both in soccer and life.
    • Build positive relationships with all members of the York Country Day School community, including students, faculty, administration, parents and alumni.
    • Build a program that's goal is to give our students an positive experience that they will take with them for the rest of their lives.

  • Full-Time Lower School Teacher (Kindergarten)

    York Country Day School seeks an experienced and innovative full-time Kindergarten Lower School teacher beginning immediately. The ideal candidate is passionate about teaching young children, knowledgeable of childhood cognitive developmental needs and appropriate practices, well-versed in child-centered learning, and capable of creating an environment that fosters a love of learning. The individual selected will be expected to motivate, assess, engage, and develop student learning while managing the routine daily activities of Lower School students.  

    The YCDS faculty is innovative and collaborative, and we seek candidates to complement the strengths of our program and to add his or her own expertise and background to provide additional breadth to the core curriculum.

    Requirements:
    Strong candidates possess:
    • Bachelor's degree with a major in elementary/early childhood education
    • Master's degree with a major in elementary education or early childhood is preferred
    • A minimum of five years of teaching experience preferred
    • A collaborative mindset and commitment to professional growth and personal development   
    • Experience with differentiated instruction and appreciation of each child as an individual with diverse needs
    • Experience integrating technology and applying 21st-century learning within the classroom
    • Knowledge of and experience with STEAM/STEM learning experiences for students

  • Substitute School Nurse

    York Country Day School is seeking a Substitute School Nurse to be available on an as needed basis beginning June 6, 2022.

    As the school's primary medical caregiver, the nurse supports the health and wellness of all students in grades PA-12. The nurse must be collaborative and able to work well on a team. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, the nurse delivers health services for students in a timely manner, offers assessment and medical referral, educates the community on important health issues, identifies health problems and collaborates with parents, primary care physicians, the YCDS athletic trainers, and teachers to develop student healthcare plans, and ensures the safety and health of the community. YCDS is particularly interested in candidates with experience in school health, pediatrics, concussion management, triage, and community health.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Manages all health information and health care at school.
    • Communicates with parents/guardians in a timely manner regarding medical issues
    • Coordinates and supervises the in-school care of concussed students with their doctor, parents, division heads, school advisor, teachers and the YCDS athletic trainer.
    • Documents student visits, physician notes and any other information using Blackbaud, the school's computerized database.
    • Distributes over-the-counter and prescription medications as necessary.
    • Safe disposal of biomedical waste.
    • Administrating COVID tests as needed.

  • Substitute Teacher

    York Country Day School is seeking substitute teachers for Preschool through Grade 12. Substitute teachers are expected to implement the daily instructional plans of the classroom teacher, maintain a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, and establish rapport with students while maintaining proper classroom management. Qualified applicants may have the opportunity to attend remote learning intensive professional development sessions in June 2020 to prepare for a possibility of remote teaching and learning for periods of time in the 2020-2021 academic year should this be mandated.

    Bachelor's degree required and previous experience in a similar school setting preferred. Must be energetic, collaborative, and well organized.
