  • Full-Time Lead Teacher for ages 2 1/2- 4 years

    York Country Day School is seeking a full-time PreschoolTeacher to join our well-established primary team. Candidates must understand the developmental needs of 2 1/2 to 4-year-olds and demonstrate a passion for working with this age level. Candidates should have a minimum of two years teaching experience, and a master's degree is preferred.  
    The person hired for this position will be expected to:
    • Plan and implement activities that nurture and develop the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social skills of young children
    • Demonstrate the ability to observe children to assess their developmental level, interests and needs, and use this information to facilitate learning and growth
    • Exhibit kindness, respect, and compassion in all interactions with children, parents, and colleagues
    • Communicate knowledgeably and effectively with parents and colleagues about students and curriculum
    Requirements:
    Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree and at least two years of teaching experience; an Early Childhood or Elementary Education degree is preferred. An ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and excellent communication and organizational skills. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to be challenged and grow professionally.

    The position begins in mid-August 2023.

  • Full-Time Middle and Upper School English Teacher

    York Country Day School seeks a dynamic and dedicated English teacher to join the faculty for the 2023-2024 school year.
    Beginning August 2023, the teacher will teach courses in English for grades 8 and 10. The courses are Traditions in Literature & Composition (8th) and American Literature (10th). The potential for an Upper School elective is also open. The ideal candidate will connect well with students in each age group. Interested candidates should have expertise in 21st century learning within the classroom and knowledge with meaningful learning experiences for students. The teacher will be called upon to advise students and sponsor a club as well. All teachers are expected to be involved in the life of the school and participate in school events.
     
    Requirements:
    The ideal candidate will be able to teach Middle and Upper School textual and writing skills, including literary analysis, reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, composition, and research. In addition, the candidate should be able to foster critical thinking skills, engage students in classroom discussions, and promote active, student-centered learning. The ideal candidate should possess at minimum an undergraduate degree in English education or a related field.  Candidates should have teaching experience and be an excellent communicator and collaborator. Candidates must have the capacity to deliver instruction both in-person and on a remote learning platform as needed. Previous teaching in an independent school setting is desired.

  • Part-Time Teacher Aide for ages 2 1/2- 4 years

    York Country Day School is seeking a part-time Teacher Aide to join our well-established Primary team.

    The Teacher Aide maintains and contributes to an exceptional learning environment for students aged 2 1/2 through 4 years. Duties include preparing and maintaining the classroom environment, creating materials, giving individual and small group lessons as directed by the Lead Teacher, helping with classroom management, supervising the playground, attending to the logistical aspects of the classroom, and assisting the Lead Teacher in student observation. In addition, the Teacher Aide participates fully in the life of the school, including collaborating with the team in a mission-driven environment.
    Requirements:
    Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree and experience working with children. An ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and excellent communication and organizational skills. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to be challenged and grow professionally.

    The position begins immediately and ends at the close of the 2022-2023 school year, with the possibility of continuing into the 2023-2024 school year. The hours are Monday through Friday from 7:45 am - 12 noon, during academic sessions only. Hourly rate based on experience.

  • Substitute School Nurse

    York Country Day School is seeking a Substitute School Nurse to be available on an as needed basis beginning June 6, 2022.

    As the school's primary medical caregiver, the nurse supports the health and wellness of all students in grades PA-12. The nurse must be collaborative and able to work well on a team. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, the nurse delivers health services for students in a timely manner, offers assessment and medical referral, educates the community on important health issues, identifies health problems and collaborates with parents, primary care physicians, the YCDS athletic trainers, and teachers to develop student healthcare plans, and ensures the safety and health of the community. YCDS is particularly interested in candidates with experience in school health, pediatrics, concussion management, triage, and community health.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Manages all health information and health care at school.
    • Communicates with parents/guardians in a timely manner regarding medical issues
    • Coordinates and supervises the in-school care of concussed students with their doctor, parents, division heads, school advisor, teachers and the YCDS athletic trainer.
    • Documents student visits, physician notes and any other information using Blackbaud, the school's computerized database.
    • Distributes over-the-counter and prescription medications as necessary.
    • Safe disposal of biomedical waste.
    • Administrating COVID tests as needed.

  • Summer Camp Counselor (Ages Preschool to Grade 6)

    Summer Counselor positions available at York Country Day School June 5, 2023- August 11, 2023. It will be a flexible work schedule of no more than 29 hours per week between the hours of 7:00am and 5:30pm Monday through Friday, with a beginning hourly rate of $12. Responsibilities include assisting program director with summer care and instruction for students in grades preschool through grade 6.

    Requirements:

  • Substitute Teacher

    York Country Day School is seeking substitute teachers for Preschool through Grade 12. Substitute teachers are expected to implement the daily instructional plans of the classroom teacher, maintain a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, and establish rapport with students while maintaining proper classroom management. Qualified applicants may have the opportunity to attend remote learning intensive professional development sessions in June 2020 to prepare for a possibility of remote teaching and learning for periods of time in the 2020-2021 academic year should this be mandated.

    Bachelor's degree required and previous experience in a similar school setting preferred. Must be energetic, collaborative, and well organized.
