  • Head of Middle and Upper School

    York Country Day School (YCDS), an outstanding PK-12 independent college preparatory school, seeks an experienced and inspiring Head of Middle and Upper School beginning immediately. The successful candidate will be an energetic, compassionate leader with experience in the classroom, curriculum development, and educational administration. The candidate is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Middle and Upper School divisions. The successful candidate for Head of Middle and Upper School will work closely with faculty, students, and parents to promote a positive and professional climate. The Head is a senior administrator and must be a team player with a collaborative style of leadership eager to work closely with others and the administrative team to advance the mission of York Country Day School. YCDS is affiliated with York College of Pennsylvania (YCP) and YCDS takes full advantage of this valuable partnership.

    Candidates for this position should be proven academic leaders who are deeply knowledgeable about current trends in grades 6-12 education and passionate about working with students and faculty across these grade levels. Strong communication skills are essential for success in the role. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated the ability to establish and maintain a rigorous academic program. Compensation is based on experience and very competitive.

  • Long-Term Substitute - Biology Teacher (Full-Time)

    York Country Day School seeks a dynamic and dedicated Full-Time Biology teacher. The selected candidate will join the faculty for the 2020-2021 school year. The Biology teacher will instruct Introductory and Advanced Biology and the potential of other science courses as needed. The teacher may be called upon to advise students or sponsor a club, as well. All teachers are expected to be involved in the life of the school and participate in school events.
     
    The ideal candidate should possess an undergraduate degree in Biology/Science Education and possess an inquiry-minded, lab-based teaching style.  Previous teaching in an independent school setting, and experience with distance learning and Google Classroom is desired. Interested candidates should have expertise in an active, 21st century learning environment, and experience integrating technology into the classroom. The ideal candidate will be an excellent role model and engaging teacher for students in grades 9-12.

  • Part-Time New Media Teacher

    Beginning August 2020, the Part-Time Digital Media teacher will teach courses to students in each division - Lower, Middle and Upper School, with an emphasis on the early grades. The ideal candidate will connect well with students in each age group. Interested candidates should have expertise in a variety of visual arts and digital media, graphic design, and animation. Knowledge of current software and hardware for digital media is also required.

    The ideal candidate should possess, at minimum, a bachelor's degree in Digital Art or related field of study, have at least 3 years of teaching experience, and be an excellent communicator and collaborator. Experience applying 21st century learning within the classroom and knowledge of and experience with STEAM/STEM learning experiences for students is also required. Experience with distance learning and Google classroom is a plus.

  • Part-Time Teacher Aide for Ages 4 - 6 Years

    York Country Day School is seeking a part-time Teacher Aide to join our well-established Primary team. The Teacher Aide maintains and contributes to an exceptional learning environment for students' age 4 through 6 years. Duties include preparing and maintaining the classroom environment, creating materials, giving individual and small group lessons as directed by the Lead Teacher, helping with classroom management, supervising playground, attending to the logistical aspects of the classroom, assisting the Lead Teacher in student observation and assisting with students in the After School Care Program. In addition, the Teacher Aide participates fully in the life of the school, including collaborating with the team in a mission-driven environment.

    Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree and experience working with children. An ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and excellent communication and organizational skills. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to be challenged and to grow professionally.

    The position begins on August 25, 2020, and ends at the close of the 2020-2021 school year.  Hours are Monday through Friday from 1 - 6 pm, during academic sessions only.  Hourly rate based upon experience.

  • Substitute Teacher

    York Country Day School is seeking substitute teachers for Preschool through Grade 12. Substitute teachers are expected to implement the daily instructional plans of the classroom teacher, maintain a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, and establish rapport with students while maintaining proper classroom management. Qualified applicants may have the opportunity to attend remote learning intensive professional development sessions in June 2020 to prepare for a possibility of remote teaching and learning for periods of time in the 2020-2021 academic year should this be mandated.

    Bachelor's degree required and previous experience in a similar school setting preferred. Must be energetic, collaborative, and well organized.
